A little bit about Shenaz, and her diverse journey.

A daughter of the Brahmaputra valley, Shenaz’s earliest memories are of playing in her mother and grandmother’s kitchen garden and farm in Assam, India. She grew up watching the two women cook with love and intention, learning her family’s recipes and experimenting with a wide palette of colours and flavours that fresh produce offers.

Shenaz added to her culinary repertoire as she lived in five countries across four continents, owing to her work in the United Nations. She now lives in Toronto with her husband and daughter. Reimagining passed down recipes from her mother and women of different cultures and brining them to life using local produce of Canada is what brings her joy.

Ahmer is a seasoned musician, holds expertise in the field of business strategy and the co-founder of Naz It Up. The idea to share their love for food with the world was sowed by Ahmer, when he met Shenaz for the first time in 2015. On their first dinner date, she cooked Lamb Chettinad with Malabar Paratha and it wooed him to bits. Ahmer is Shenaz’s biggest critic and supporter, always working behind the scene ensuring the videos and the blogs reach its intended audience.

Their vision is to build a community by bringing people together who deeply care about exploring cultures and personal stories that are interweaved with food, and who are also committed to contributing to food security to benefit the world.
